Much of the talk was centred on the imminent upgrade to their newly released Hot 7 device – the Infinix S4 smartphone(successor to the S3 device) which rightly so drew a wave of views considering its the first of its kind in different aspects and in the Nigerian market too.

However, Benjamin Jiang – Managing Director & Co-founder of Infinix Mobility also premiered several other consumer gadgets from the Hong-Kong based company making it a whole new occasion you ain’t going to forget in a jiffy.

All the Announcements at the 2019 Spring Launch Event.

Infinix Hot S4

Having turned eyebrows this year with the iPhone X-like notch on the Hot 7 smartphone, Infinix ain’t resting on their laurels just yet as they the set out to market one of the first phones we can truly refer to as a flagship here in the Nigerian market. The company announced the Infinix S4 smartphone, which has been billed to truly #EmpowerTheInfinityInYou, with it being the first to feature a triple rear camera in an Infinix device.

The Infinix S4 device comes in a 6.2-inch LCD display with a tear-drop notch at the top housing the selfie-centric camera(first in an Infinix device) with an 88% screen-to-body ration which just about makes up for the entire years we have been experiencing huge top and bottom bezels in Infinix smartphones.

At the back of the Infinix Hot S4, you get a triple camera setup consisting of a main 13MP shooter, a secondary 2MP camera and lastly, an 8MP wide angle camera. The cameras are equipped with a Quad-LED flash for low light shots and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps while the single front-facing 32MP camera is equipped with an AI for better selfies and can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

The device runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) – a first in an Infinix device ably supported by the Infinix custom UI – the HoneyBee 5.0. There is “Central Siting” MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, a four-core processor clocking up a speed of up to 2.0GHz, which looks quite weird considering the Infinix S3 smartphone and predecessor all came with the Snapdragon chip.

A non-removable 4,000mAh battery with fast charge support hooked up to either 3GB/6GB of RAM with two storage options – 32GB or 64GB will never let you down during any of your session with the usual suspects like 4G connectivity and the 3.5mm headphone jack all present in the device.

The Infinix S4 will be available for pre-order in Nigeria at the price of ₦49,900 for the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage version. The Pro version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will cost ₦64,500.

Infinix Hot 7 Pro

Infinix launched the Hot 7 couple weeks ago and during their recently concluded spring event, there’s was an appearance for the Hot 7 Pro device which is a bit of a step up for the Hot 7 smartphone and coming equally advanced specs.

Starting at ₦45,000, it does not have some of the parent Hot 7 device, though packs more advanced features you’d only get on likely flagship, definitely something worth presenting on the table.

All the usual suspects from the Hot 7 device are present from the 6.2-inch LCD display, with a 720 x 1500 pixel screen resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio alongside the iPhone X-like notch. The 13MP camera at the back of the device has an f/2.0 aperture and is paired with a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera also equipped with a dual-LED flash for low light photography.

As for selfies, a single 5MP camera in the notch takes care of that. Features of the selfie camera include an LED flash, Face beautification, HDR and FaceID. You get to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps and a cool 720p video recording also possible with the front-facing camera at 30fps.

The Infinix Hot 7 Pro has the same MediaTek MT6580A SoC on the inside which comprises of a Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 4,000mAh battery keeping the lights on though there’s no fast charge support.

There might be a plethora of Bluetooth headsets in the Nigerian market but asides the XBand smartwatch, Infinix also announced continuous sales for their innovative and active noise cancelling Quiet X headset.

The Infinix wireless headphones use Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity which makes for a rather flat sound experience and supports audio file formats such as AAC and SBC. With the stereo cable, which comes along as a packed accessory, users can listen to music even when the headphones run out of battery.

Interestingly, the ANC functionality is also available over the wired connection though there appears to be a minor dip in performance when using the cables.

The Infinix Quiet X features a 600mAh battery, which promises to offer noise reduction time of 25 hours or more lasting around 13-14 hours on a single charge. Considering the power issues in the country, this would literally mean charging the device every single day.
